I never rally watched the show Weeds, although I have seen a couple of episodes. I never got into it like my former boss did. She loved that show. Something about selling weed in the suburbs didn’t resonate with me. But, and there always is a but, I did like the theme song. Little Boxes by Malvina Reynolds. It is just a little song about the suburbs and the houses “they all look just the same.” Maybe that is not great for houses, but it is great for treat boxes.
Last year a put up my pretty dress boxes. Last night I got a request to make some boxes in different colors. So I did. So just like the little boxes, there is a red one, a blue one and a silver one, the all look just the same.
Not really the best picture, but it gives you a good idea of what the boxes look like in different colors. Kind of cute, right?
I really should have spent the afternoon cleaning my craft room. Next Saturday, I am having some friends over to craft, have fun and eat! Sounds like a good day, doesn’t it? Well, before my friends come over, i will need to clean up. Not just the front rooms, you know, the living room, bathroom and kitchen. But the craft room too. Usually, I just wouldn’t let anybody go upstairs. Just like when I was a kid and threw everything in the closet and called it clean. No, I have to clean upstairs, too. My friends will want to see my stash of cool papers, die cuts and assorted machines. I wouldn’t want to disappoint anyone.
So what did I do instead? I made really cute treat boxes. I don’t know why I went with a baby theme, but I did.
I went on vacation to Arizona for spring break and came back sick as a dog. My throat is still sore and I have a lingering cough. Usually I can deny being sick, but it didn’t work this time. Of course work did not stop, and I have been leaving the house at 7 AM and coming home at 7 PM, so I haven’t gotten the rest that I need. Good thing I love my job!
I was finally able to do something crafty this week. My friend’s daughter is getting married in May and her bridal shower is in a week and a half. For the shower my friend asked me to make favors, little wedding dress boxes. I gave her three options to choose from:
Which box do you like the best?
I look forward ward to getting back to my year of craftiness; more projects and more blog posts!
I found the cutest little body butters at The Body Shop last week. They were on sale, so… I got one for all my co-workers. They will make a perfect little Christmas gift!
Next I needed a perfect way to wrap them. I love die cuts! I have Sizzix, and Quick Cuts, and a Slice with about 10 cartridges and two Cricut cutting systems. But my favorite of all is the Accucut Grande Mark. This giant machine cuts perfectly every time. I knew just the box for these little goodies and had a fabulous holiday paper.
This self closing box needs no adhesive. Just run through the die cut machine and fold on the score lines. Tuck the tabs in the slot and you are good to go.
