Since the end of March, I have been working from home and basically never leaving the house. My husband has been working from home for 10 years or longer, so he thinks everything is normal. We all know everything is not normal. I have watched everything on Netflix and Amazon Prime, so I need to get back into doing other things. One of those other things is to get more active and watch what I eat. To go along with that, I decided to journal a bit with goal tracking. For me, I want a pretty journal, so I have been doing some art pages.

Snow Day – Stash Day
Today was a snow day, so in between work emails, I went upstairs and played with my stash. I have a huge stash of stuff. Card stock, patterned paper, and more. I am sure I have told you about my obsession with die cuts, Stampin’ Up, and Project Life cards. I love them all. I buy new and used Stampin’ Up, much to my husband’s consternation. I must have a couple of hundred stamp sets. Many of which I haven’t used yet.
So thinking about how to best use what I have, I got an idea. I could use my Project Life cards on the front greeting card. A while back I ordered a grab bag of envelopes from LCI paper (a great deal of 1000 assorted envelopes, for $40, you don’t know what you’ll get so it’s a surprise). Unfortunately, they sent a grab bag of card stock instead. When I called to let them know of the issue, they told me to keep the paper and sent me the envelopes. Yay for good customer service. So I found some A1 sized pieces in a moss green and looked through my gazillion Project Life cards and found a few I though would coordinate and got started. I used a Sizzix label die cut, pulled out a few random Stampin’ Up stamps and got to town:
I am pretty sure when my mini dachshund barks, she is saying “I hate the mailman!”
I used watercolor pencils for the car. I loved the little puff of smoke with this stamp set. It reminded me of my first car.
These little love birds are precious!
Now I need to find a few stamps and send them off to family and friends. Happy Tuesday to all!
Happy Birdday!
Portland has been snowed in for days. We usually don’t get all that much snow here, but this last storm was a doozy! I have been using my time off well. I have read three books and took the bus to the movie theater and saw Hidden Figures (really good) and spent a lot of time crafting. My rug is about 4″ bigger and I have a bunch of new cards.
For Christmas my friend gave me a gift card to Joanne’s (she is a great friend, indeed). I promptly spent it 😜. I got a cool bird punch. Now, what to do with little birds? Birdday cards. I used cute paper to make the birds and used a heart punch to make wings. It was a co-worker’s birthday and we needed a card, so I made her a Birdday birthday card. Turned out so cute I made some more!
The stamping was a bit tricky as I used stamps with longer sayings to get my happy and my day. I used a Stampin Up! marker to ink up just the words I wanted. Worked like a charm.
My First Time
After a stressful week at work that culminated in hosting our company retiree dinner with 170 attendees, I finally had time to try out my new paints. I watched a few YouTube videos so I could see what I was supposed to. I don’t usually do too much research, I usually jump right in. So that’s what I did. I am not so good at using different media and getting a really put together look, but I think I might get better with practice (a lot of practice).
I started with the dylusional paints I bought last week. I wanted to start with a lighter color so I used the lemon zest yellow, tangerine dream and orange.
I dug out a set of baby calendar stamps from Close to My Heart and stamped the month of May on the top right of the page with Tangerine Twist ink from Stampin Up! Then I added a beautiful bee stamped with More than Mustard ink (I think that is the color) also from Stampin Up!, with the word yourself underneath, be yourself. I added the words happy anniversary at the bottom because my husband and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary this month. I know it really doesn’t go together that well, but it is my first try.
I finished the layout with the year 2016 with die cuts from Stampin Up! And a pretty flower with a button center.
Little Boxes, Made of Ticky Tacky
I never rally watched the show Weeds, although I have seen a couple of episodes. I never got into it like my former boss did. She loved that show. Something about selling weed in the suburbs didn’t resonate with me. But, and there always is a but, I did like the theme song. Little Boxes by Malvina Reynolds. It is just a little song about the suburbs and the houses “they all look just the same.” Maybe that is not great for houses, but it is great for treat boxes.
Last year a put up my pretty dress boxes. Last night I got a request to make some boxes in different colors. So I did. So just like the little boxes, there is a red one, a blue one and a silver one, the all look just the same.
Not really the best picture, but it gives you a good idea of what the boxes look like in different colors. Kind of cute, right?
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Reboot Day Three
This weekend I met up with my friend and we did a bit of crafting. I brought my Sizzix Bigshot and a few dies and a bunch of Stampin’ Up! Halloween stamps. I used my new favorite die, the step up card and went to town. I stamped out this totally awesome witch. Tonight, I pulled out my Copic markers and added a bit of green to that witch. She looks good, doesn’t she!
I don’t like the stamps on the bottom too much, so for the next one, I think I’ll skip them.
Something So Simple…
You know that they say the best things in life are free. I believe that the best things in life are simple. It can be as simple as sharing a meal with friends or just chatting away and enjoying the company. Or it can be creating something simple. In case you haven’t guessed it by now. I like simple cards and crafts. I like complex cards, too, but the is just something so nice about a simple card.
For this card I used basic kraft colored paper, a punch from Stampin’ Up and a small flower stamp. The bright orange really pops on the card and the ink is a perfect match for the card. I love this card and I am not ashamed to say so. I hope you like it too!
Cute and Simple
Sometimes the best looking cards are the simple ones. I am on a window cut out kick. I will take a normal A2 sized card and cut out a small square on the front of the card. Then I will put a small decorative element inside the card, just a teeny bit smaller than the window I cut out. That is it. Nothing fancy. But somehow it seems elegant to me. Of course I might just be a little biased.
The most recent card uses kraft grey paper, with a small purple flower. The flower was punched with a stamping up whale punch. I adhered a little pink rhinestone in the middle of the flower for a little bling. Everything looks good with a little bling!
This card was quick and easy, but a satisfying project.
